You modern day powerful Pharisees! Do you think we’re too blind to see?
Where are you taking His holy bride? Who gave you, the right to decide?
Leading her on with your counterfeit pride, while thousands of children, silently die.
You divide us on what Jesus made clear, you avoid His word, and refuse to hear.
Your lips speak the words of the gospel, but your heart’s only motive is political.
You preach views of the left and the right,
you take our eyes from the Poor’s hopeless plight…
The King knows all the good things you do. But He has this complaint against you!
He commands you to turn back and work as you first did,
or your lamp stand He’ll remove, from His churches midst.
Look how far you have fallen. Look how far you have fallen, from your first love!
And those that hold the church’s purse strings!
What right have you to hide these things?
You offer trinkets with no value at all, and hide the gold in your coffers and walls!
For good works, we pass the offering plate,
but just a part of it goes, to the hungry that wait.
The money that we give is not all used as we say,
the lights are on bright, and the salaries paid!
Disasters we answer with an outpour, turning our backs on the desperately poor.
We say we love Him and we want to serve,
but when the time comes we’re really not sure…
The King knows all the good things you do. But He has this complaint against you!
Your ways are indifferent, you bend but you won’t bow.
You’re neither hot nor cold, no not one, or the other.
You are like lukewarm water, you are like lukewarm water,
and He will spit you out of His mouth! Yes He will spit you out of His mouth!
And while we stand and sing, yes while we stand and sing
Thousands, will go, to their graves. Thousands, that we, might have saved.
Thousands, will go, to their graves. Thousands, that we, might have saved.
Thousands, that we, might have saved. Thousands, that we, might have saved.
Thousands, that we, can still save!
